How to flip on Kleinanzeigen: a realistic first-to-message playbook

Most "how to flip" advice is written for Facebook Marketplace or Craigslist and quietly assumes you're in the US. eBay Kleinanzeigen — Germany's dominant classifieds site — plays by its own rules, and if you're reselling there (whether you're local or an international flipper working the German market), those differences decide whether you make money. This is the playbook I wish I'd had: how the platform actually works, and how to be the buyer who gets the deal instead of the one who gets "sorry, already sold."

No hype, no "quit your job" promises. Just the mechanics.

Step 1: Pick a category and learn its sold prices

Flipping is arbitrage: buy under market, sell at market. That only works if you know the market — and knowing it is boring, unglamorous homework that most beginners skip.

Speed is not a personality trait, it's a system. Refreshing the app when you happen to think of it is not a system.

• Make your search precise. Use exact model numbers and add negative keywords so you're not wading through near-matches. On Kleinanzeigen you can also lock down location radius and a price ceiling. The tighter the search, the less you have to read and the faster you can act.
• Sort by "Neueste" and watch, or automate the watching. You can refresh manually — it works for one or two searches. • Be reachable and follow through. Confirm pickup fast, show up, pay as agreed. Sellers remember, and a reputation for smooth pickups gets you repeat first-refusals from the ones who list regularly.

Step 5: Sell it cleanly

The buy is only half the flip. List promptly on your best channel (eBay for reach, Kleinanzeigen or Vinted for lower fees, TCG marketplaces for cards), with honest photos and a title that matches how buyers search. Price against the sold data you gathered in Step 1, not against hope. Bank the difference. Repeat.

You do not need software to start flipping — you need a buy box, a fast finger, and a good first message. Software just scales the "be first" part once one browser tab isn't enough.
